As a teacher, I’ve committed myself to being a lifelong learner. Here is my growth. Here are my learnings, lessons that have worked and lessons that have not. Students and parents will guest blog here and discuss their learnings. Growing up, I loved visiting the school where my dad worked. While he spoke and worked with colleagues, he let us explore the building. My favorite places were the library (the books!) and his desk. I’d crawl under his desk, opening the drawers and looking at what knick knacks he had. Though the items in and around the desk changed, on top of the desk always sat a lone empty mug. It read, “The school cannot live a part from the community.” I hope this space can be one that explores what it means to teach and be taught, to learn and unlearn in a way that inherently builds community both in the classroom and outside of it.
